Practice makes a man perfect is something that each of us is aware of. It is all the more true for Soccer Practice sessions. The kids are hopeful of attempting something new in the field every single day. Yet, it is extremely important in soccer training that they keep practicing old techniques that you teach them regularly.
So here the difficult part for you is to ensure that kids don’t get bored practicing the same drills day in and day out. The following tips should help you carry out practice sessions in a disciplined, exciting, and regular manner.
1. Do I need to emphasize this more? Kids will learn from you and hence you should be a role model. Get to the filed on time, expose them to your talent, let everyone take part in drills, and arrange the sessions properly. This will help you win the players respect and trust.
2. Tell the kids to come to the field daily with a ball of their own. It is mandatory that every kid has a soccer ball. Just in case they forget to bring it, keep some extra balls with you.
3. A number of soccer moves are such that call for daily practice sincerely. Kicking, passing, dribbling, and throw-ins account for some basic elements in soccer practice. It is imperative that kids practice these on a daily basis. Ensure that everyone participates in it even though some may show lack of enthusiasm initially.
4. When compared with soccer drills, include games more in practice sessions. The major reason is that games call for a lot more strength and judgment when compared with drills. And it is easy to keep the focus on soccer as also to test new things with games.
5. Discipline is the key to success for any team. With children, it is common to make mistakes. It is necessary that you deal with all issues of indiscipline as soon as they arise. However, do it carefully since it is kids you are dealing with and they are susceptible.
6. While the session is on, you will note that some players do not run with the ball while others do. You must ensure that this is never the case. All the children should actively participate in the action. Teach the players about which positions they should hold and how they can make the best use of those positions.
7. Do not allow a lot of scrimmage. Ideally, it should not be more than 15 to 20 minutes at the end of each session. And a goalie is not required in scrimmaging. This will teach the kids to be good defenders.
8. Keep your eyes open for new ways to conduct trainings. This is the most recommended way of keeping the students interested in the training sessions.
