Basketball is definitely one of the most popular ball games in the world. The National Basketball Association (NBA) has produced many star players like Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Shaquille O’Neil, Kobe Bryan and Lebron James that became idols for most children. It is a universal sport that is played all around the world in courts that vary in sizes.
But, in official high school basketball competition, there is a standard dimensions to the playing court. Below are the standard dimensions related to high school basketball:

The high school basketball court is rectangular. The basketball court is 84 ft by 50 ft. To devide the length of the basketball court in equal halves, a center line is provided. This is known as the half-court line.
There are two circles intersecting the half-court line whose centers are 25 feet from both sidelines. The outer circle is has a radius of six feet while the inner circle has a radius of three feet.

Backboard and rim
The backboard is 6 feet in length and 42 inches in height. From the baseline, the backboard is four feet. The diameter of the rim is eighteen inches. The back of the rim is 6 inches from the backboard. Therefore, the front of the rim is twenty four inches from the backboard. The rim is ten feet from the ground.
Free-throw area
The free-throw line is 12 feet in length and 19 feet from the baseline. This makes its distance from the backboard is fifteen feet. The free-throw line divides a circular area called key whose radius is six feet. There are two lines that begin at both ends of the free-throw line and ends that the baseline. Along these lines are blocks which are 7 feet from the baseline. It extends eight inches outside the 2 lines and is 12 inches long. Also along the lines are 3 free-throw tabs which are 3 feet from each other. These tabs extend eight inches from the two lines and are two inches thick.
Three-point line
What we call three-point line is an arc whose distance varies from the center of the rim. Starting from the baseline and nineteen feet and nine inches from the center of the are three-point lines on both sides that extends to sixty three inches. After this, the three-point line curves and is 19 feet and 9 inches from the center of the rim.
