As a kid, Jeffrey Epstein kept wishing to grow taller, he didn’t. To his dismay he endured from “no hops” the white man disease. In one of the last competitive ball games he played he gave up 6 inches and 80 pounds (Jeffrey is quite skinny) to the opposing teams center. After the center got demoralized by the defense, he said good by to the league. Jeffrey Epstein has a huge heart, thus he believes that he has the right to write articles about exhibitions of heart in sporting events.
I found Kevin Garnett at the Fabulous Forum which is, at that time, the present dwelling of the Los Angeles Lakers. This was when KG was still young and in the middle of a ten year deal promising him the biggest paycheck in the league for its duration. He played for the Minnesota Timberwolves. He would’ve been excused for bailing out in some games, considering the times. However, he did not. On the night I saw him the Lakers took over from the opening tip. The game was through before half-time. KG played his ass off the entire night, virtually every minute of the game. The guy has heart.
The heart is something that can’t be explained. Once it kicks in, it pushes one to do things that appear impossible to do. It may be powerful but it can be temperamental and delicate at the same time. Dennis Rodman is most likely the finest example. I saw him in one of the very first games of the season he played out on the Lakers as coached by Kurt Rambis. I had great seats and I witnessed something truly unique. From the beginning of the game it was Dennis who took over, but he never took a shot. It was an amazing sight. A few weeks after that game, I once again watched another Laker game. The Lakers and Dennis were not pleased with Kurt’s training thus the unimpressive year. Before your eyes you can see the heart fade away. There after Dennis was merely mortal.
But back to Kevin Garnet. I could not comprehend why KG didn’t win the MVP merit for his initial year at Boston. He played with all his heart, played tough, played fair, and he put up an excellent defense for the Celtics. He changed the lifestyle and the locker room of the group. That is one difficult to find player. The year after he suffers his first major injury of his profession and is left waiting around for the next year. He appeared horrible that next year. But my perception is that if it had been any other player, they would have taken the year off for more rehabilitation. You could tell KG was frustrated at his body for letting him down. He did not like the concept that dedication is not enough to make up for his bodily restrictions. At the beginning of the new season, he now owns the hops, range of movement, pace and agility, all of which were not present the previous year. Jeffrey Epstein believes it will be fun to view and see how far heart take him this year.
