The Alabama Crimson Tide have several intense rivalries, including Auburn, Tennessee and LSU. Everytime these teams face again it is a battle, with no regard for the squad record at the time. This is part because their close proximity to each other, and because of their sustained battles for championships. In their early days, the team was simply known as “varsity” or “Crimson White”, after the colleges logos. Their first moniker was the “Red Thin Line”, which was used till 1906.
The name “Crimson Tide” was first labeled in 1907, when Hugh Roberts used the name to describe the Alabama-Auburn game that was played that season. This was also the last time the 2 faculties played one another till 1948. The game was battled in a pool of rain, and Auburn was a heavy favorite to win. But the “Red Thin Line”, which they were known as at the period, played a match in the “red mud” to hold Auburn to a 6-6 tie, which is how they were given their name.
The bloggers loves talking about the Alabama Crimson Tide floor mats, and their followers are nuts. They’re consistently giving them home field advantage by threatening opposing sports fans and making the stadium agonizingly loud for opposing aggroup, which creates chaos on the field, and a fine time for the Crimson Tide football team.
